LOCALITY

This area is a real find with much to see and do. There are tennis courts and two new swimming pools in neighbouring villages, one unheated and one heated; a popular new bistro style restaurant in another nearby village. Three important Cathar castles are to be found in the locality as well as a Roman Aqueduct. There is an Activity Centre, Pyrenees Outdoors, just outside Caudies with hydrospeed; canyoning; white water rafting; kayaking; potholing; horse riding and more. Walking and swimming in warm rock pools is to be found in the spectacular Gorge de Galamus. The spectacular Gorge de Galamus is just outside St. Paul de Fenouilles. It is a great area for mountain biking and hiking at every level. What makes this area special is the unspoilt natural beauty and the charm of a unique French rural village lying at the door to a vast expanse of the Foret de Boucheville. Opposite the balcony at the house there is a nursery of swallow’s nests in the roof tiles. Buzzards, owls and eagles are regular visitors and if you are fortunate you might see wild boar, deer and one of the bright green lizards although these animals are timid. You will certainly see a colourful array of butterflies, large and small. Vira is a village with a generous heart. We hope you will enjoy it.
